Hi, my name is Alex
I was born here and lived in Michigan for most of my life so far. I went to Grand Rapids Community College where I took a photography class and really enjoyed it. Using only a point and shoot camera, I did well in the class, and this sparked my love for photography.
My day job has been in the field of social work. On the side I partnered with a Re/Max agent to take photos for listings, and saved up to buy better equipment to produce higher quality photos.
The name "Hearth & Home" came from a previous job training idea, that to help our customers, we needed to know our customers, that we needed to "be the experts in the heart and home events." In this case, the hearth represents the physical home and the home represents the idea of family. Wherever your chosen family is, that is home.
Having started with real estate photography, I'm currently working to expand into the portrait market. I'm looking forward to turning this into a thriving business. I hope to take photos for people who may not otherwise be able to afford nice personal or family photos. I know how life costs so much already and I want to offer the professional grade photos at a reasonable cost.
I know the struggle of being a parent and provider, being divorced and trying to be stable financially. I am always looking for new opportunities to connect with my community and to provide a benefit to those around me.
